There are three main types of horse saddles to look into when shopping for a new one: western, English and Australian. All three will help keep you on the horse; however, that is pretty much where the likeness stops. If you have never bought your own horse saddles before now then you should really look into all three types before making a purchase. The English horse saddle is a very simple design and you can get them with or without front blocks. If you want something with more bells and whistles then look into getting a Western style saddle. These saddles have more straps to give a more secure fit and they also have a rear area that will keep you from sliding off the back. A good mix of the two horse saddles would be the Australian saddle, also known as the Stock saddle.
