Log homes and how to learn more
Log home kits are likely to settle with time; settling refers to shrinking and compression of the logs. There will be less likelihood of shrinking if good seasoned logs are used. Moisture on the logs is removed by seasoning and this minimizes the probability of shrinking. You can't avoid settling due to compression because logs are stacked on top of each other and they have tendency to press down the logs that are positioned underneath. This is mostly the case with tall building structures.
