When you apply for a mortgage, the person who looks into the assessment of your property takes a good look at the quality of material and age of the building among other factors before deciding a mortgage value. In most parts of America where log houses are preferred over conventional home they get a better mortgage rate as well. If you live in a location or state where conventional home are in abundance you might as well check with your bank and local laws as to the rate and policies that are being offered. Now, it is not all good and great only, the draw back is that log houses require constant maintenance and attention. Which house does not need to be taken care of or maintained on a regular basis.
